FAQ’s

AAA Pool Tile Cleaning Co of Tucson, AZ often receives certain questions regarding the machine we use and why we have the safest method for cleaning pool tile. In order to help prospective customers and put their minds at ease, we offer the following frequently asked questions.

If you have any questions about our services or need a free estimate, please contact us today.

Q: Why doesn’t the wire damage the tile?

A: Each 3 inch long “finger” has a 3/8th inch diameter loop at one end. This allows the “finger” to extend away from the center point until it touches the tile then it retreats. As you can see from the video you can put a bare hand against the “fingers” and it doesn’t hurt your hand , so it definitely can’t hurt your tile!

Q: How does your machine clean off the calcium etc if it’s so gentle?

A: It’s really very simple. It’s just repetition. If you look at the video you can see the machine just creeps along so the “fingers” make contact with your tile thousands of times. Repetition cleans the tile, not force.

Q: Why is your system better than the blasting methods?

A: Whoa, back up! Our method is only better on the flat shiny glazed ceramic or porcelain tile. If you have the rough porous dull-faced tile (almost no glaze) then we would recommend using the glass bead blasting to clean that type of tile. We began cleaning tiles 24 years ago when they only had the shiny smooth tile so that’s what our equipment is designed to clean without damaging the glaze. The rough porous dull tiles were not sold in Tucson until approximately 1999. However, you should not use either blasting method on shiny tile because you will pit the surface glaze on the tile. Please see the photo gallery for an example of shiny tile that was blasted and note the significant damage to the top 2 inches of the tile and compare it with the original color of the tile on the bottom four inches.

We want to stress that there isn’t one method that cleans both the shiny smooth and the rough dull tile.

Q: Will your method knock off the tile or grout?

A: NO. Our method is gentle enough to put your bare hand against it so it does not have sufficient force to remove tile or grout. We have heard that the magnesium/ soda blasting method uses a pressure washer that sends out a concentrated stream of water at over 3500 pounds of pressure and grout removal is fairly common. However, we’ve heard that the only time they have tile flying loose is when they try to clean the smaller mosaic or 3″ by 3″ tile.
It should be mentioned that if we arrive to clean the tile and the customer has tile that have fallen off or knows of other tile that are just barely hanging on, we will hand clean these tile and then reattach them properly, usually for free.

Q: Who does the work?

A: The owner completes every job himself and has done thousands of pools. When he comes out to clean your tile, the average time to complete is typically between 3-5 hours to clean an average pool and spa. There is no need to vacuum the bottom of your pool because we haven’t used glass beads, magnesium, etc. Remember, ours is a mechanical repetitive method that doesn’t add anything to your water.

Q: How noisy is the process?

A: Our machines make less noise than an average ceiling fan set on low. I think you are worried about the noise generated by an air compressor (glass bead blasting) or a pressure washer (Magnesium/soda blasting) and if you have the rough porous dull stone faced tile then yes you will have to put up with that noise.
We commonly clean pool tile for large apartment complexes that require us to start very early in order for the pool to be open for the residents. We are able to do this with no noise disturbance to the residents.
